Movements @ 15wks

38% of your pregnancy is completed.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and i have recognized baby movements! Far and few but i have felt some twitches. I actually began feeling them last week but i wasn't sure if they were in fact the baby, but im guessing they were! This week, me and the baby went to Sea World Orlando, and Adventure Island Tampa. On yesterday 7/27/17 i felt the baby move while on vacation! Being aware at that moment made me realize what those other movements were that i'd felt the week before. Very light flutters and some singular kicks. :)

 FACTS:

Your baby has done some impressive growing over the last couple of weeks. He or she now weighs about 2.5 ounces and measures roughly 4 inches, or just over 10 cm. Your baby looks exactly like a tiny human now, although the skin is still very thin and translucent. This will thicken and become opaque by the time you're scheduled to give birth, although if you have your baby early the skin will still be extremely delicate.
The big change for your baby this week is that they can "see" light. Although the eyelids remain fused shut, bright lights can be sensed, much like if you have your eyes shut and someone switches a lamp on; you can't exactly see the light, you're aware that its there. Shining a torch on your belly can cause your baby to try and find a dark hiding spot. It's a fun game for Mom & Dad, but try not to annoy your baby too much!
You probably still won't be feeling movement or, if you are, you may not recognise what it is. Many women report feeling butterflies or a rippling sensation at first. You may, however, be feeling your baby's hiccups. As your baby is swallowing large amounts of amniotic fluid which helps the lungs to develop, he or she will be hiccuping a lot. This continues for a while after the birth, too, as the respiratory system matures.

14 Weeks Pregnant

I'm 14 weeks pregnant, and most of the morning sickness has gone away. I'm feeling back to normal but i have started getting really intense headaches and heartburn. My stomach is showing now and im not as hungry as i was in the first trimester.

Facts:
If you could have a peek inside your uterus at this time you'll see your baby making all manner of funny facial expressions. With the brain now allowing for lots more deliberate movements, your baby is figuring out how to control the muscles in the face and is squinting, frowning and even pouting. No smiling yet though, that won't happen until around 4 or 5 weeks after the birth, and it's definitely worth noting in your baby journal!
Your baby's sex organs are becoming more obvious and the difference between boys and girls is much more apparent. Although it's still very early, and you probably won't have a chance to find out your baby's gender until your next scan at around 20 weeks, the chance of successfully determining the sex of a fetus increases from 46% at 11 weeks of pregnancy, to 90% at 14 weeks gestation.
Your baby has been swallowing amniotic fluid and urinating for the past couple of weeks, but now the intestines are producing meconium which will form your baby's first bowel movement. Unlike normal baby poops which are usually quite soft and range from bright yellow to dark brown in color, meconium is a green, sticky, tar-like substance that's very difficult to clean up off of those newborn baby butt cheeks!
The lanugo covering your baby's skin starts to get thicker now, and hair also starts to grow on the head and eyebrows. While some babies are born with a full head of hair, others are born almost bald. In some cases, even babies born with long and thick hair can become bald within the first few months after birth, and the new hair might be an entirely different color and texture to what it was before. It's not clear why some babies are hairier than others, but an old wives tale suggests that you'll experience heartburn if you're carrying a hairy baby!

Im In The Second Trimester Now!

Today, im 13 weeks pregnant! 3 months! I visited the doctor today for my monthly check up and the baby is doing fine. Heartbeat strong, and so are the kicks which i still cant feel but i could hear the commotion through the stethoscope.

Facts:

Your baby will be measuring around 3 inches long at this point, or about 7.5 cm. Bizarrely, the majority of this is made up of your baby's head! The body is growing rapidly now, though, and will soon catch up, making your baby look far more proportional.
The big change with your baby this week is that a completely unique set of fingerprints have formed, meaning your little one now has it's first real distinguishing features. Fingerprints are, of course, just the first of many aspects that will give your baby his or her own identity.
Your baby's vocal cords are developing around now, and while they won't be used for speaking words for quite some time, they will probably be exercised quite frequently in the first few months after the birth! Many new Moms worry about their babies screaming in public, but keep in mind that it's completely normal for your baby to cry, it's his or her only form of communication! Your baby will not be the first to moan on the bus, nor the last!
Your baby's ankles and wrists will form this week, so all the joints should now be in full working order. Your baby is starting to make some deliberate movements with them, but mostly he or she will still be a bit of a jumping bean, making rather fast and jerky actions. It's still a bit early to be feeling this, but you should do within the next couple of weeks.

First Heartbeat Scan

Baby's First Heartbeat Scan from royal baby on Vimeo.

Today, the baby is 12 weeks 1 day old. I had some concerns because of my vacation to Mexico. I decided to go zip lining across the ocean while on vacation. But all is well. Today i listened to the baby's heartbeat for the first time. While listening, the baby kicked or punched a couple times the doctor brought to my attention. It sounded like thumps and swooshes. That was a relief. This actually wasn't a regular visit. I went to check on the HCG levels because of my worries about zip lining when i was 7 weeks at time. But the heartbeat was sufficient for the associate doctor and the HCG levels were ok. Consistent with a 5-8wk fetus. which i was 8 weeks when i took the test. (8wks 6 days). So im kinda thinking its a boy since the levels are slightly lower. My official doctor visit is next week. My actual doctor wasnt in the office today,  so i was seen today by an associate physician.

Weekly Development Progress

Your baby weighs in at about 3.5 ounces, and measures anywhere between 4 and 5 inches. He or she is growing rapidly and is preparing for one massive growth spurt over the coming weeks (make sure you've got a pair of maternity jeans at the ready!).
This growth spurt is when your baby finally becomes big enough that the jerky movements can really start to be felt. If your baby has gone through this growth spurt already, or if you've had a previous pregnancy, you might be able to start feeling "quickening" this week. Quickening is a term used to describe those first movements that you feel. They don't exactly feel like kicks or punches, but more like butterflies or gas! Don't worry if you don't feel anything yet, your baby might not have this growth spurt until 20 weeks or so.
The most lovely change that happens in week 16 is that your baby's ears start to function now that they've settled into their final position on the sides of the head. This means your baby will be able to hear your voice! It's thought that babies can recognise voices at birth that they've heard frequently throughout the pregnancy, so if you and your partner get into the habit of including Baby in your conversations (as weird as it may seem!) your voices could provide some much needed comfort to your infant. You may even notice that your baby moves in the womb as a reaction to your voice!
